Another CCR Welding card

OK so a friend of my challenged me to make a Pretty card using Skull and Cross bones and guitars. She says her daughter is now into them and refuses to have a Pretty valentine card. Well I took her up on that challenge and made a cute valentine card.
This card was super simple and I mean simple. I used the CCR and welded the Skull from Rock Princess with 2 guitars for the Cross bones. The Skull was sized at 1.83" on the shadow the guitars were at 1.73" welded to the skull and then flipped one of them.

I used the Recollections paper pack - Butterfly Wings.
I cut the cute little bow out to make her pretty.
I used the Martha Stewart heart punch
The "Be Mine" is from Emma's new stamps "Be Mine"

I think this is actually more funny than anything but wanted to prove a point. Teehee. Challenge accomplished!!!!
OH I'm also entering this into the Cricut Craftroom Blog for more information you can go here: http://cricutcraftroomblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/ccr-welding-challenge-with-great-prize.html.

CCR Welding challenge

Once the Cricut Craft room went I live I started to play around with it a bit. I loved being able to play and delete the project and/or being able to upload to the Gypsy. For this project I just cut from CCR w/ my mini.

I wanted to make my daughter's Valentines so I began thinking about it and looking at Pinterest for some cute little quick ideas. This was pinned on a friends board and I thought these were perfect. I saw the link for this http://www.skiptomylou.org/2009/02/03/printable-valentines/ and thought it was perfect idea.I love how easy but cute these little butterflies were.
I went ahead and welded 2 hearts from Arts Philosophy at 3.5" together to form the wings. The added hearts were cut at 1" and .75".
I punched 2 holes to hold the sucker.
The paper is from Recollections Butterfly Wings line -- it was just the cheap paper but worked really well for this.

Stampped the back with Emma's stamps - Classmates Valentines. I thought it would be fun to stamp them on the back. I will give credit to my 3 year old she actually helpped put the hearts on the wings and stampped the back of them. She loved stamping them.

I will be entering this http://cricutcraftroomblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/ccr-welding-challenge-with-great-prize.html.

PS My daugther even signed her name (Teeheee) they call her GG in school isn't that great.

Throwback Thursday Challenge: VALENTINE'S DAY CHALLENGE

Cards for my daughters Pre-School Teachers
Action Wobble

So it's time again for Emma's fantastic Throwback Thursday Challenge.

Here are the details: You may visit her at: http://www.creativetimeforme.com/
*** This challenge is a VALENTINE'S DAY CHALLENGE! Use any cartridge of YOUR choice & just make a Valentine Card!

*** Link your project up to Mr. Linky below, then leave a comment!
*** Deadline for this challenge will be on Wed, Feb 8th @ midnight!
*** ONE project per person please!

So for this I made a few little cards:
I made 2 cards one for each of her teachers.
The 1st card I used Best of 2008 Cartridge - which is a sampling of cartridges released in 2008. The scallopped heart was cut at 3" and the little saying is from Emma's stamp set called More Gift Card Sentiments. I used a simple little ink on the edges and assemblies. Just something quick and simple.
The 2nd card I used Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge - I cut the wings at 2.5" and used the shilloutte layer for the black. The red heart is a shiny metalic paper. It's so sparkly pretty w/o being glittery.
I attached an action wobble and made it move.
The stamp IU and the dotted border is from Emma's Stamps set called Small Talk.

I used some of my scraps of paper for both.

The heart ribbon is from Michaels (bought a while back)
A little bling and it's done.

Hope you enjoy

Cricut Monthly Challenge - A year in review

Time for another Cricut Monthly Challenge - man where has January gone? Really?

This Month the theme for the Cricut challenge was to create a layout or a mini album focusing on the past year and reflect on what it has meant to me.
The past year was full of fun and adventure for my daughter. We did have a few ups/downs this past year but all in all it was allot of fun.
For my layout - I will admit - I HATE to journal - I normally just put a little blurb like the date of the photo and where it was. Well this year one of my scrap booking goals is to journal. As you can see in this photo I haven't done it yet. I do plan on doing it though.
This past year my daughter had allot of 1st. She saw a real show - Sesame Street Live. She ate her 1st OREO while taking her first international trip. (Yes I know it was only to Canada, but still outside of the US). She started Pre-school and was showing off her 1st backpack. She wore her pretty little dirndl and apron a friend bought her to the German Festival. She also was able to go and see and touch her 1st Real Monster truck.  So what better way to focus on the previous year then to scrapbook it.

I cut the little pockets at 4.25" wide, and the tags at 2.9 from Tags/bags,boxes, and more.
The little banners were cut at .50/1.0" Party Pick Pennants
The letters cut at 1.2" from Kate's ABC
The paper is from SEI A Fair Day. I thought it would be perfect for this layout since there was tons of colors. The pockets are double sided paper.
I tried to keep this simple as there was allot of photos for this layout - and I wanted to really use the little journal boxes from Emma's Stamps. I think it turned out so cute. Now all I need to do is... Journal.

Peachy Keen Stamps Blog Challenge -- Pocket

With the tag removed from the pocket!!!!

This week at Peachy Keen Stamps they are hosting a challenge to create a project using a pocket.
I had a vision in my head when I saw this stamp and thought it would be fun for a Valentines card. Can I just say I was in tears with this challenge. I had made a card it was about 95% done and went to use my red pen to color and it leaked everywhere. There was nothing salvagable with that card. I had to START all over.
That's ok because I like this card MUCH better.

I used SEI paper pack With all my heart
SEI A Fair day - mainly rasberry swirl
The main heart is cut from Art Philosophy at 4"
The tag is 3.5"
The little hearts range from .25 - 1.0"

I used Emma's sentiment from 100% Sweetness stamps.
I popped up the heart and made a little pocket with paper.
I used some pretty little Valentine Twine -
The PKS faces are from PK 570 Paper Doll Faces, and the large face is from PKK 04 Open Eyes Simple Smile set. I think that little face is just darling (well actually I think all PKS faces are just darling).

I think this little card is so cute. I'm not sure yet who will get it but I think I may send to a special friend.

Thanks for looking and don't forget to come back Saturday for "Love is in the Air Blog hop".

Bee Mine

OK so I made this super simple card last night. I really just wanted more of a "manly" card but still wanted to make it pretty.

The bee and word is from Art Nouveau cricut cartridge. Can I just say that I bought this cartridge and didn't have a purpose for it. I really like the letters. I am not a huge fan of bugs or bee's but I really liked this cute little bee. I thought it would be perfect for Valentines day card that I made for my hubby.

I cut the Bee at 3.30" and the letters MINE at 1"  w/ the shadow on the font. Can I just say I'm a huge fan of shadow letters.
The paper is from SEI With all my hearts. I love that paper it's very pretty.
The purple and cream is from a mat stack by DCWV.
I attached a wobble to make the bee flutter and some pretty diamond stickles and it was done.

Yes I know it's simple but I still think it's perfect.

I'll be entering into Curt Jensen's monthly challenge. You can check it out here: http://typecastcreative.blogspot.com/2012/01/new-year-new-challenge.html

Future Soccer Star

So I made the "Future Hockey Star" layout (you can see it here: http://scrappinwiththebug.blogspot.com/2012/01/december-cricut-craft-room-contest.html_ and I had 3 friends ask if I would make a layout for their child's photo that was similar to my little girls Hockey photo. I said sure. One wanted Soccer and not Hockey - no biggie I had everything saved on the CCR and the gypsy so I just changed a few things and here is the new layout.
I used SEI paper line "playmates" It actually has lots of animals on it, but I did find a stripe/small printed paper that I liked in this line. I wanted to use some red/blue - and this has both and a little green so I thought it would be perfect.
Since the photo will be of my friends little guy I didn't want to put that in there yet but he has a Chicago Fire Soccer jersey so it's perfect.
I used Kate's ABC for the font.
The soccer player was from Everyday Paper Doll -
The cute and I mean cute little baby face is from PKS Just Baby Face stamps. (OH sooooo adorable). Look this little guy has a small tooth. So sweet.
The soccer ball was cut using my imagine - as the only cartridge I had with a soccer ball on it was Best Friends.
I actually colored the black in and added a puff applique in white to really give it another demision.
I added some white to the eyes and some glossy accents.
I will be entering this in to the PKS Challenge blog, you can find out more about it here:
Hope you like it and

December CRICUT CRAFT ROOM and Throwback Thursday's contest

For my 2nd challenge of the new year I wanted to do the Cricut Magazine challenge.
I will say I have grown to love the new Cricut Craft Room (CCR) - I bought my mini so I could use the craft room - (not that I couldn't use the CCR w/ other machines; however, I would have to lug them into the other room). I love the portablity of the mini.
Here is the contest rules:
Use the Cricut Craft Room™ design tool to create any project. Contest will open on December17th. Please upload a working link or picture of your project to the blogunder the Magazine Challenge tab. One entry per person. Entry deadlineis Friday, January 13th.
A few months ago we had my daughter's photo taken in her 1st Blackhawks Jersey. Yes she was bought a Blackhawks jersey when she was 1st born. My hubby is a HUGE Blackhawks fan so this only seemed fitting. Let me tell you the infant jersey's are so tiny but so ADORABLE!!!. We had several photos of her taken and now since she outgrew her jersey we had it mounted with a couple of photos. It is sooooo cute. My daugther and hubby love to watch the games. She now has a "Blackhawk" cheer so cute to watch a little 3 year old rooting for "her" team.
For this I used several different cartridges:
The squares sized at 5.25 x 7.25" and 5.5" x 7.5" - cut from George and basic shapes
The circle sized at 6"
The little hockey player is 5.5" and the gear was just layered accordingly from Everyday Paper Dolls
The hair was not the normal one for this person but it was also from Everyday Paper dolls.
The Stanley cup also cut from Everyday Paper Dolls at 6.5"
The letters are cut from Kate's ABC at 1.20 shaddow feature and then regular font feature.
I modified her hand from the side to across the front. (I did a little operation). I wanted her to hold the stick.
The stick was wrapped with brown/white twine (just like how they wrap the sticks in hockey).
All the paper is from SEI - "With all my heart" paper line. I didn't want just red and black and wanted to make it a little more girly so I chose this adorable little paper.
The cute little face is from Peachy Keen stamps
I stiched around the little uniform and Stanley cup. The 2010 on the Stanley cup is from when the Blackhawks took home the trophey.
I also will be entering this in the FABULOUS Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenge which was to make something relating to sports. I was going to make a parenting layout - as that is a sport. (Teehee). You should visit Emma's wonderful blog and see her cool little sneak peak she is having - which means a new stamp set is coming soon.

Weekly Challenge #49: Function Meets Fun Challenge!

Check Spelling
I don't normally make resolutions but I have set a goal to try and do as many challenges and/or scrapbook pages as I can. I would like to get at least 25 done this year.
So here is my 1st challenge for the year -- it is the Cricut Circle Blog Weekly Challenge.

Here is the Challenge: As your taking down the decorations from the holidays, there seems to be a feeling to give everything in our homes a fresh start to the new year. We feel a desire to reorganize those closets, and clean out things that could use a little less clutter. This week’s challenge is all about “function meets fun”! Show us how you use your Cricut machines to organize your home, office, garage, etc.
Rules and Guidelines: Circle Blog Challenges are open to Cricut Circle Members only. Your project must be newly created for this challenge and include at least 2 Cricut Image Cuts. You must submit a project to be entered into the Challenge Prize Drawing. One entry per person, please.

I have 2 little 9 cube organizers for my daughter's toys. I only have elected to purchase 4 bins for each one. So I figured since she is only 3 - she really can't read but she does know pictures of objects so I thought these cute little tags tied to the basket would help her to know where to put the toys.
I want to give credit to the super talented Missie as I scraplifted the idea from her: http://createdbymissie.blogspot.com/2011/02/function-over-creativity.html.
She did this for her storage unit a while back and I thought it was a great idea. I just now got around to creating it.

I actually made the tags at 3 1/2" - and then I "drew" the shapes on there by using the Cricut Markers - I love how neat and clean these drew on the shapes. I kept the shapes pretty small and then I cut the words out - from Billionaire cartridge. Can I just say that is one awesome cartridge for welding. The letters cut out so nicely.

I then added a little extra bling by coloring with copics, adding some glossy accents and stickles.
The shapes were all cut from different cartridges.
I will be using my yourstory to laminate them and then just tie them to the bins w/ ribbon.

Happy Scrappin'
