Cricutville Online National Scrapbook day(s)...Come color with me...

Let me start off by saying Welcome to National Scrapbook Day (or in this case Weekend). Thanks to Sis and Sara for asking me to be apart of this fun filled weekend.

Today I have a fun color challenge for you. Sometimes I find it really hard to do a color challenge because it may not be my colors I normally love to use. Well the tables are turned and today I am picking the colors for you to use.

A few months back my girl friends and I signed up for the Mega Meet in Novi,  MI. which is a huge scrapbook show. We all wanted to make T-shirts so I offered to make them. Let me tell you I LOVE working with vinyl, but the Iron on Vinyl scared me!!!! Not sure why but it did - maybe because it is a little pricey and I only have 1 week left before the show and 1 piece of each color??

So without further a do here is your color challenge: Make a project using the following colors:
  - Yellow (maize), Pink (fuchsia), Blue (sky) Green (apple), Purple, and Hibiscus (salmon/orange).

You have until May 12th at 8:00 PM to make your creation and post on the Cricut Message board. Oh and because this is a fun weekend wouldn't it be great to have a fun little prize??? I will be giving away a prize to random participant.

Here is a little of how to make T-shirts w/ Iron on Vinyl. I bought the iron on vinyl - from http://www.justforcrafters.com/store/pc/home.asp and it is the Siser Easy Weed Iron on vinyl.

1) Select your design for this I like to use CCR - and great different tabs for each color I'm working with.

I type my words correctly then highlight them all and "flip" them see below

2) Make sure you "flip" the image you want - especially for words.

3) Cut your images leaving the protective film on it. For the Sisser Easy Weed iron on vinyl - you will put the glossy side to the mat (that is the protective film).  Use a Kiss cut also - for that my speed was medium, pressure was 3, and blade 3.
 4) Weed the negative parts. (Here's a saving tip - use a really pointy tip objects like your Cricut Tool kit pick and pull away from the image).

Then for this product you will use a normal house hold iron.
I set my iron to preheat at cotton. I walked away and let it warm up. Then iron the shirt w/o any thing on it.
Then lay the 1st piece in this case it was the fuschia color.
I then added the words to the center of that area. When working with an item you've already put the vinyl on you will want to protect it. So keep that large piece of film you took off from the base piece.
Then I continued putting each piece down - pressing the iron for about 15 seconds (DON'T RUB IT OVER IT PRESS AND HOLD THEN MOVE TO NEXT SPOT overlapping slightly to the previous). Peel the protective fill off - this one is either hot or cold peel.
If you are layering items I found it best to only let the first layer press for 15 seconds - then add the 2nd layer and do the full 20 seconds there.

Hope you enjoy and can't wait to see what you make using the colors: Yellow, Blue, Green, Fuschia, Green and Hibiscus.

Happy Scrappin'

Cricut Lightning Concert....

Who knew the judge was so cool?

Look she even has a tattoo

A Cricut Lightning Meet and Greet
OK I blame my husband for this one!!! I was joking around and saying I should make another little Cricut display and he told me I should make a ROCK band. Are you laughing as hard as I was? He really was serious. I told him I had no idea of what to make - so my hubby went to the cartridges and pulled out Rock Princess. Yes!!! I know shocked. He told me I should make the guitar, drums, and a singer. OK so I ran with it and Cricut Lighting was born. He thought it would be funny if I gave them all tattoos, just like real rock stars. (Oh and no we don't have any tattoos).  So I went to town thinking of the dresses, the stage and all and this is what I came up with.

I loved the idea of the meet and greet so the stars could thank their fans. I couldn't part with the past decorations of a few vinyl bugs so I just left them and added a few little extras.

I used mainly Rock Princess - the guitar was cut at 2", and the drum set was cut at 3" but I clipped the "drummer" out to be able to add Cricuts.
He told me I should use the lightning bolt theme. I loved that idea.
The lightning bolt is cut at 2 1/2"
The Cricut circle is cut at 4 1/2"

I had allot of fun making these for the Cricut Circle challenge. I think this is one of my FAVORITE challenges.

Hope you enjoy and
Happy Scrappin'

Weekly Challenge #36: Fabric Challenge!

Well this weeks challenge on the Cricut Circle was to use fabric. The rules are to include at least 2 cricut cut images.

Ok in previous post I had some SEI monster iron on sheets that I made several cute little things. Well I bought some of the SEI iron on fabric. Let me just say I am in love love love with the pink polkadot but the black hounds tooth was way too busy. IT would be nice on maybe a different color fabric too - or for a small area or 1 or 2 letters not a whole saying.

Can I say that the SEI iron fabric cuts so nicely using my cricut.

I designed it in my gypsy welded the word Bling and then Flipped it.

The letters are cut at 1.8" using Country Life Cartridge (one of my favorite font cartriges).

The heart is cut at 2" from George and basic shapes.

The bug head is cut at 3" from Cricut Everyday cartridge

The bling is Imaginisce crystals.

I plan on taking this to Ohio Kings Island Swarm which is next week.

The T-shirt was just a heavier weight T-shirt that works nicely to embelish.

Well I didn't stop with just that T-shirt I had to bling out my little cover for my expression. So I made a cute litle bug head and just added 2 Crystals.

Isn't that cute? My imagine and expression covers are black zebra print with hot pink sides.

Look at my expression....

So I bought some vinyl a few months ago and finally played with it.

Can I just say - I love this stuff. I ordered 4 colors, Red, Brown, Purple and Green.

Well I have been wanting to decorate my expression so I thought this was perfect.

I used - Cricut Everyday Cartridge - can I just say I am so happy that I joined the Cricut Circle (that was my special treat to me this year).

I love love love the Cartridge.

I used my Gypsy to help me to save some vinyl.

I cut the Cricuts at 3 1/2, 3, 2 1/2, 2 and 1" --I cut the smaller Cricuts inside the circle of the larger ones.

I had to play several times cutting I mean wasting the vinyl but I finally figured it out.

I used my Deep blade, settings at 3 Speed, 4 Pressure, and 4 Blade. It cut so nicely. I love it.

I cut the saying " LIVE LOVE SCRAP" from Cricut everyday and ye it is layered. That is cut at 3" - with the shadow function. I was going to us the saying, "Go Away Im Scrapping", but changed my mind.

The only thing difficult was the top hatch as it is "curved" and placement was a little tricky.

For all of you that are afraid I say, GO for it. It wasn't that bad. I probably wasted about 4" of the vinyl... So not bad.
