So recently I've come across the DCWV sketch challenges. I will say that I had a few stacks laying around and I really like challenges that make me start using my stuff.
I found the August Sketch Challenge for DCWV here: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2012/08/august-stack-hoic-challenge.html. I did the card challenge this time around. When I saw the sketch I instantly thought about doing a Red, White and Blue banner.
I knew what stack I wanted to use. My new favorite Citrus. Yes, it had the perfect Red, white and blue in the stack. I love the pretty red and the denim blue.
I have learned a tip on how to make banners w/o getting my cricut out. I use a square punch and make them that way. YES they are done by hand.
I wanted to add a few little stars and some twine. I actually used the hemp twine.
The sentiment is from Emma's set - My little firecracker with http://www.creativetimeforme.com/. I thought it was perfect for this challenge. I know the 4th is over but I don't think you need a holiday to show your pride for America. I also wanted something to tie into the Olympics.
I love the simple sketch and the way this card turned out.
Hope you enjoy and
Happy Scrappin'

Playing in the Sprinkler - DCWV.
So I saw a few months back on FB that DCWV has a monthly challenge. This month I figured why not I love the sketch and knew instantly what photos I wanted to use for the sketch. The good thing about a sketch is it can help you get your juices flowing. I love the "banners" now they are so in and loving making them.
When I was looking over my packs of DCWV paper I'm Hording - I didn't have anything that went with this photo. So OFF to the store I went. Yes I went out and bought paper just for this layout. I will say though I have now made 2 other layouts using this same paper. I love it. The bright colors, the pretty patterns. LOVE IT.
I used a couple of stacks for this layout. The base is from Harvest Gatherings, the blue is from a Christmas stack kit that I bought a long time ago. The rest is from Cirtus. I love love love the colors of that stack.
I followed the sketch pretty much but did change a few things around. I flipped my photo layouts, and changed the top banner tags. I also didn't like that I didn't leave enough space for a journalling tag at the bottom so I changed it and journalled around the layout.
I inked the edges of the layout for additional dimension.
I will say one of the favorite about DCWV is that it cuts so nicely in the Cricut machine. I made a few little flowers from Forever Young cartridge.
Hope you enjoy it and
Happy Scrappin'
